Selling Merch in Philly
Is anyone attending the show on Saturday (the 17th) in Philly who would like to sell merch? I'm scheduled to be there, but I'm getting married in 3 weeks and have a lot to do plus the friend who was going to host me for the weekend found out she's unable to on Saturday, so I really need someone to take my place on Saturday!

If you're interested, please leave a comment with your email address so I can give it to Jessica (and I'll also give you her email address).

CL show Oct 12th Scituate MA
The club is kind of tucked back in a fancy suburban neighborhood. It's a really pretty place to see a show.

We got there *right* before the guys went on. By the time we got our drinks they were starting. Most of the crowd was standing around the edges of the room, some were on the dance floor. The stage was slightly above floor level. Nice venue, very up close and personal!

One Praire Outpost

7 Brides for 7 Sinners

Another Mans Woman

Any Given Day

Desperation Song

What About Everything

Under the Wire

Under the Rainbow intro/ into
Miss Hollywood

Life Less Ordinary

Then an Intermmission.

Got hugs from Jason right when he saw us,chatted with Jon, got a hug from Carter then he said " Kate, you look more subdued than usual, and your hair looks really nice." I said subdued? In a schoolgirl skirt and high heels?" He said "Yes, it looks lovely". I blushed like hell. Then we saw Barry and got hugs from him too. Then I went off to the ladies room and when I came out Terry was standing right in front of the door(like in it almost) and I came out and said " Why is it I always run into you lurking outside the ladies room"?
He laughed and grinned at me, looked me up and down and said "Hey Kate, great necklace(I had on a funky heavy silver leaf necklace I got on E-Bay), then told me I had awsome legs. Damnit I blushed *again*.( I never wear miniskirts, last night was rare.) Got a hug then they were headed back onstage.

Drops of Rain

Seed (Barry said this was by request it wasn't on the setlist)

Block of Wood (acoustic)

Comfort (a really funky rocking version of it too)

War Was in Color

Lake of Silver Bells

Pink (Barry told the story about what inspired the song too)

Rocky Road to Dublin intro/into
The Boxer

Let your Troubles Roll By (I can't remember now if it was acoustic too)

Then they all came off the stage onto the floor to do Learn to Fly acoustic.

All the guys signed my crappy little guitar, and we hung out for an hour then headed home.
I promised to show up with baked goodies for them Wednesday.

I think more of the new stuff is growing on me finally.

It was an awsome show and I'm so glad I got word about it. But, there might have been 50 people there total. I think their management needs to keep up on the publicity a bit because up until the day of the show I didn't see news of it anywhere. It went out on Myspace and Twitter the day *of* the show.(I could be wrong on this but I have been trying to check on tour dates every other day just in case I found I could make a show I wasn't already planning on.I never saw this til Monday morning)) I asked around, and a LOT of the people there found out last minute.

Looking forward to tomorrow night in Somerville MA at the Somerville Theatre!

The Paradise Boston May 19th 2009
*knocks mike*
Testing..Testing. Is this thing on? Have there really been no updates here since August 2007?? Almost 2 Years?

Well then how about an update?

Tonight it was a *really* fun show. Sold out as usual too. I love the Paradise, but personally I'm dying to see CL either play a *bigger* Boston venue or an outdoor show again.

The Alternate Routes from Bridgeport CT opened. I'd never seen them before. They were quite good, nice looking bunch of guys too. I'm going to pick up some of their cd's next time. They were a nice mesh with CL's style of music.

Oh and one of their guys and Terry need to have a contest for who has the better hair. ;)

CL went on around 9:15ish

The boys all looked good. Carter was channeling Eric Clapton with a jacket, tee shirt, and a nice black fedora,Terry had on a funky red and black striped long sleeved shirt with shiny silver threads in it,Jon had on a green t-shirt that showed off his (very nice) arms when he played, and Jason had on a cool Sailor Jerry shirt. Barry was the under-dressed one for once, he had on a plain olive green short sleeve button down shirt with a t-shirt under it.

Miss Hollywood

Drops of Rain

What About Everything

One Prairie Outpost

Lake of Silver Bells

Love Loss Hope Repeat

Another Man's Woman

Life Less Ordinary

Under The Wire

Gray Sky Eyes

Desperation Song

(Day-O intro into)

The Boxer

Learn To Fly (acoustic yay!)

Then Tim and Eric from The Alternate Routes joined them for the Encore

Sweet Emotion (Aerosmith)

I might have missed one while taking pictures, but I don't think so? I'm sure monitorninja or someone else will correct me if I did.

It was an completely awesome mix of new and old songs IMO. The crowd seemed to like it a lot. Barry wanted people to sing on "Changeless" and they did but he had to shame them into singing *louder*. They changed up "Under the Wire" but it wasn't as good as say the remix they did of "Comfort" last tour. Jon played the stand up Bass during Learn to Fly (which was really lovely tonight). I got good video but crummy audio of "Sweet Emotion" with my camera. The security guys were all cranky about flash photos tonight,so I didn't take many pics. I mentioned that later and Jon said he didn't know why cause CL didn't care. Oh well. I'll get more next time.

As for the new stuff..
I liked "Another Man's Woman" a *lot* more tonight than the last time I heard it, "Lake of Silver Bells" was pretty,Miss Hollywood was good. I need to listen to "Drops of Rain" "Mexico" and "Seed" again as this was the first time I'd heard them,oh and "Pink" was good too.

*High points* No Mari-Mac (yay!sorry it gets *old*some tours), hearing "Grey Sky Eyes" and "What About Everything" with most of the audience singing along.

*not so high points* Not as much banter as usual. Also there were a bunch of younger people in the front 2ish rows that didn't sing along or really even seem like they were enjoying themselves. Very weird.

Personal opinion? I think I like NRWW more than I liked LLHR the first time I heard it, but a LOT of LLHR grew on me. I'll have to see how NRWW grows on me later.

Welcome back to Boston boys, we missed you!! Come back closer again soon!

On the off chance that it ever gets updated (cough), the band's blog feed is syndicated for your friends page: carbonleafblog.

It looks like someone did this a long time ago, but at present it also looks like I am the only person watching it.

Ram's Head Show Dates
Hey there --

I just got an email from the Ram's Head (it's a pub-type place in Annapolis, MD) that listed Carbon Leaf for December 28, 29, & 30. The dates aren't on the CL website yet, and the good seats seem to be going pretty fast, so I thought I'd pass the word along.

We saw them there last year and absolutley loved it. :)

Really enjoyed the show last night. Steve Kellogg was great - every time I see them (this was the fifth time) they seem better and better. I've only seen him in very small venues, (like Jammin' Java - what is that, 120 people?) but he had a great stage presence on even a huge stage like Wolftrap. They were only able to play a short set, about 30 min, but they got the crowd wanting more. They announced from the stage that they're playing the Birchmere on Nov 29th, and baring something catastrophic, I'll be there. First day last night that they had their new cd, Glassjaw Boxer, on sale.

So I did make my sign - it had two fireflies on it and said "What does it mean?" And Carbon Leaf opened with Wolftrap and Fireflies so I stood and waved my sign. I think, though, that my sign might have been a bit obtuse? I saw Terry coming into the park before the show, showed him the sign, and I don't think he got it. After the show, when I was asking the band to sign the sign, Jordon asked if it was a rhetorical question. But anyway...

I'm not very good at remembering full sets, and I didnt write it down, so I'm just going to list the songs I remember that they did, and it's not in order. Feel free to correct. I thought it an interesting choice of songs - very few from LLHR

Wolftrap and Fireflies
What About Everything
Life Less Ordinary
One Prairie Outpost
Torn to Tattered (I was SO happy...)
Blue Ridge Laughing (Again! So happy!)
Texas Stars
A cover of Springsteen's I'm on Fire
Star Spangled Banner.. to... The War was in Color
Troubles (with Steve Kellogg)

They did Star Spangled Banner accapello, the four of them lining up. I got so excited; I thought I was actually going to see Gloryland again. But they did a great job on it - their fabulous harmonies had the crowd on it's feet cheering.

Barry still hasn't cut his hair, and wore a headband even for most of the show, looking very 60's. The rest of the band has stepped back from the scruffy look though - they looked great. Barry? Cut your hair, man...

They said they'd be touring in the fall, and I asked Kit from Steve Kellogg if there was a chance they'd tour together. He didn't say yes, but he didnt' say no - and indicated that there's a desire with both bands to tour together again, even if it's not this fall. Which, of course, would be fantastic. The only thing better than CL on stage is both those bands sharing a stage, and the cutting up and the great music that happens together, never predictable. I'd love to see that again.

Oh, and I really enjoyed Pat McGee, too. Great night!

The Living Room Providence RI Tonight!!!
23 Rathbone Street $12 bucks at the door. The Living Room doesn't have a website, but the myspace page says the show is 8PM-1:00AM. So I'm guessing it's DOORS at 8.

We plan to leave here at 6:30 to meet my friend at 7:30 at Spike's on Branch Ave Providence for quick dinner before the show. In case anyone else wants to join us. :)

Last night's show at The Iron horse was freaking awsome in a LOT of ways. I will write all about it tomorrow. But Barry picked on me cause I said he needed a shave. ( I said the long hair was yummy but the beard was scruffy looking, cause it IS!) ;)

I will say LTF acoustic on youtube was great, but in person... good lord it was SO fabulous.

linda_a I've got pics for you!! I will get more tonight. I will post them here if I ever figure out how.
